What do the Oldest Things on Earth look like?

 

Fancy seeing an organism that is 2,000 years old? Does something 5,500 years old impress you? Surely, 9,950 years would! Then you need to see the beautiful collection of photographs of 'The Oldest Living Things in the World' by Rachel Sussman.


Sussman, a photographer based in Brooklyn, has been traveling the world in search of living organisms that are 2,000 years old and older. Working with biologists, Sussman has been capturing some of the most ancient organisms on Earth with stunning photographs, approaching them as is they were individuals of whom she was "making portraits" of.

Sussman begins her collection at 'year zero', exploring and capturing the past in our present. Her journey has taken her from the deepest depths of the oceans to the remote deserts of Africa.
